Light and Soft

Inspired by the mild climate of Provence, the Spring 2008 collection presents a light and soft, feminine wardrobe. Ultra-light satin, iridescent silk, and permeable linen, are sculpted to produce sensual clothing. The silhouette designed by 1.618… is outlined in simple and classic forms. Couture details are subtle and are usually left to the imagination. The colour palette owes much to the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. The gentle oscillating waves shape a vibrant seascape which - in return - complements the floral landscape of the coast. Comfortable, fresh, and cool, is the feeling of this tempus primum. The collection also pays tribute to the women of Cannes, those whose lives are dedicated to fashion and cinematography.

Surrealism Manifested

The women’s wear collection, designed by 1.618… for the Autumn-Winter 2007-2008 season, is inspired by the poem, Fata Morgana, written by the French Surrealist writer, André Breton.

Designs conceptualized by 1.618… focus on the idea of dépaysement, the sense of being out of one’s element. The collection is a post-modern work on superimpositions, repetitions, layering and deconstruction - elements that are found both in Breton’s poem and in every detail of each piece of clothing.

With the use of fabrics for active sports, made to endure extreme weather conditions, a soft envelope is transformed to protect the body, repel water and dirt, wick moisture, and breathe. 1.618…mixes sportswear with ready-to-wear in an innovative and experimental way. Black and grey fabrics that dominate the colour palette are complemented by a cool blue. Wool and cotton create a soft winter touch. 1.618… envisions a season of stylized contrasts of shapes. Creating a tailored silhouette, 1.618…finds feminine beauty in simple lines and elementary forms. Minimalism emerges as a peaceful escape from the chaos of today’s post-modern world.
